Cedar-Planked Salmon

This dish was created for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “Fad Food”. Cedar-planked salmon has been around forever so it is not necessarily a fad food so I was going to go for a low carb dish. I have had cedar-planked salmon before but never made it myself and after making it, I cannot imagine why. It is so easy to do and it makes it absolutely delicious. It does take some time but the majority of the time is just waiting for the salmon to cure and marinate.

St. Louis Style Spicy BBQ Chicken Drumsticks with Blue Cheese

This dish was created for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “American Midwest”. While I usually do not go for chicken when cooking, I have always had a soft spot for wings, drumsticks, and thighs. Also, the fact that these were cooked “St. Louis” style intrigued me because I want to go to St. Louis just for the food. Hell, I have traveled for worse reasons before.

California Burrito

This dish was created for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “California Cuisine”. I grew up in California so when I saw this theme, I got a little nostalgic. Just the other week I was talking about how much I miss California burritos. I mean beans and rice are good and all but some times I want fries in my burrito. This definitely cured my craving for one and I am glad that I have enough to make a few more.

Choco-BBQ Chili

This dish was the completed part of a dish created for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “Bottled Sauces from Scratch” and my second theme was “Comfort Food”. While the homemade BBQ sauce satisfied the first theme, this completed dish definitely was comfort food. There are not many foods that I consider more comfort food as Chili especially on a cool night. Continue reading “Choco-BBQ Chili”

Spicy BBQ Sauce

This dish was one part of a dish I prepared for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “Bottled Sauces from Scratch” and my second theme was “Comfort Food”. This is the part of the theme of bottled sauces from scratch obviously. Continue reading “Spicy BBQ Sauce”

Juicy Lucy with Whiskey Grilled Onions

When I woke up today, the weather was abnormally warm so I decided to go for a hike. Whenever I go out in the sun or go hiking, I always get an appetite for a burger even though I am not really a burger fan. Add the fact that I picked up a bunch of ground bison the other day because I have never cooked with it and I was intrigued. This was really good that even a non-burger person like myself would definitely go back for. And incredibly juicy so much that it reminded me of those Carl’s Jr. commercials. I will definitely be looking into making different things with bison after this.

Korean BBQ Burger with Kimchi Slaw

This dish was prepared for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was “Hit for the Cycle” which had to incorporate 4 consecutive themes from weeks passed. I went with Barbeque, Ground Meat, Fusion, and Concession Foods. To start of this post, I just want to say that I am very picky about Kimchi flavour, I either really like it or really do not, there is not in between. That being said, after I saw the ingredients in this, I decided that I had to have it and holy hell I am glad I did. Pictured is a full 1/3 lb (ish) burger and I can honestly say that I did not get to savor this because for something my body felt the need to put this in my face as fast as possible. Yes, this was that good. The only down side is that it is a bit messy and I think next time I make this (read: tomorrow), I will not dunk the meat in the BBQ and rather just brush on.
